DVD frenzy in February... MOPI and FmC

Funny. Kind of.

Thanks to kahvi_elf's post about Keanu being at the Berlinale, I found out that he wasn't there to promote "Constantine" (released tomorrow in the whole world), but for another, less blockbuster movie, "Thumbsucker".
Released... some day.

And while looking for info on Keanu sites for it, I found out this :

Today is finally being released on DVD (Zone 1) "My Own Private Idaho", in which starred River Phoenix and Keanu Reeves.
(the day after Valentine's Day. All together now : awwwwww...)

And in 9 days, is being released on DVD Zone 2 (mine) "Farewell my Concubine", starring Leslie Cheung.

...
*sigh*

No wonder I felt a disturbance in the Force :P

Those two films are really good.
*adding "Farwell to my Concubine" to the shoppinglist*

I searched for "Thumbsucker" on IMDB...seems to be a strange movie. But I don't know when they will release the film...never heard of it before.

I had never heard of Thumbsucker either, and so far it seems only to be shown in festivals.
I hope it'll be released in France as there might be a more "intimate" premiere for it where I might be able to reach Keanu this time around :)

Thumbsucker also stars Tilda Swinton. I heard about it because they showed it at Sundance this year. They were photographed together.

*nods* I saw something on the Sundance site about it too.
But it doesn't seem to show anywhere but in festivals like that.
Which is odd, for a movie with actors that well-known.

I'm definitely getting My Own Private Idaho. I always wanted it on DVD but had a very bad VCD version of it. I wonder if there are extras.

That's what's the site says about the extras :

# Available subtitles: English
# Available Audio Tracks: English (Dolby Digital 5.1)

# Exclusive new audio conversation between director Gus Van Sant and
filmmaker Todd Haynes
# The Making of My Own Private Idaho, a new documentary featuring interviews with key crew members
# New video interview with film critic Paul Arthur on the adaptation of
Shakespeare in My Own Private Idaho
# Video conversation between producer Laurie Parker and Rain Phoenix
# Outtakes
# Original theatrical trailer

Crap. I originally misread the "3rd to last" one as "Vid conv. between Laurie Parker and RIVER Phoenix", not Rain. I wonder what Rain has to say about it? She didn't have any part in the movie that I remember.

And Keanu didn't do anything, hm...
