Is there any country that knows a real winter without those things known as "rain" or "snow"?
There's nothing like switching from frozen soaked socks and shoes to dry, warm ones, to remind you why humanity has spent all of its history to put walls and clothes and fire between itself and nature, and why progress is good.
At least sometimes.
(of course that means I had to buy yet another pair of something-like-boots, because none of what I have can go through snow without being damaged or soaked or making me slip and fall. But it was very cheap so I don't feel too guilty. Plus it will save me from catching pneumonia)
